Which are the new animated emoticons?
MSN Messenger 6 expanded the available standard emoticons with over 30, bringing the total of MSN emoticons to 79. Several new smileys, but also a couple of classic ones, had turned into animated emoticons. Here’s a list of the standard, animated MSN emoticons and their shortcut codes:

Since MSN Messenger 6.2 your shortcut codes are automatically replaced with corresponding emoticons while you’re typing. Because of this new feature, users can not use the <:o) shortcut for Party smile anymore because it will get replaced with the surprised smiley 
). You will have to select it from the emoticons shortcut list or type <o) and then add the : before the o.
While some standard emoticons were animated, MSN Messenger 6 does not allow to import animated gifs as custom emoticons. MSN Messenger 7 supports also custom animated MSN emoticons.
